Privacy Policy

The short version

You tell us about someone you love, and we turn it into a song. We use what you share to make and deliver that song, and for nothing else. We don't have accounts, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell your information.

What you share with us

• The recipient's name and how to pronounce it, and your name (optional, since you can stay a mystery).
• The occasion, music style, mood and singer voice you pick.
• Your story, the details you want included, and any notes or lyric edits you make.
• Your email address, if you choose to give it.

Your story may mention other people, including someone who has passed away. Please only share what you're comfortable with us using to write the song.

What we create and record

• The lyrics, song recordings, lyric video and private share page for your Mixtape.
• Random identifiers created by the app (not your device's advertising ID), so you can come back to your Mixtape and so purchases reach the right song.
• Purchase records: which product, the price, the store transaction ID, and any promo code or campaign link used. Apple handles your payment; we never see your card details.
• Your IP address, held for a few minutes only to stop abuse (rate limiting).
• Anonymous daily counts (for example, how many songs were made in each music style), with no personal information.

We don't collect your contacts, photos, location or microphone audio. We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics.

How we use it

• To write, record and deliver your song, including rewrites and remakes you ask for.
• To confirm purchases and promo codes and to prevent fraud and abuse.
• To help you if you contact us.
• To understand, in aggregate, which parts of Mixtape people use, so we can improve it.

Who helps us make it

We work with trusted third-party vendors to write and record songs, process payments, and host our service. We share only what each vendor needs to do its job for us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.

Your share page

After you unlock a song, it gets a private link. Anyone with that link can play the song and see the names, title and lyrics on it, so share it with the people you choose. Share pages are hidden from search engines. Your story and email are never shown on the page.

How long we keep it

We keep your Mixtape's details for up to about 400 days after it was last changed, so you and the recipient can keep coming back to it. We keep song and video files and purchase records until you ask us to delete them, except where we need to keep purchase records for tax or accounting.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time. Email hi@clutch.fm with your Mixtape's share link, or the recipient's name and roughly when you made it. When we delete a Mixtape, its share page and songs stop working.

Children

Mixtape isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the effective date above.
